Taking a break in the sunshine with Cocoa, on our midday potty break walk.

I have been involved in the pet industry in many facets since 1995. I have worked in veterinary hospitals, in a kennel (both as an aide and eventually as the manager), as a pet sitter, as a dog walker, in a doggy daycare, and as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. I have experience with a wide variety of animals, including exotics. I grew up with dogs as a child. As an adult, I have had a dog, 4 cats, a rat, a guinea pig, and various reptiles as pets. My various positions over the past two-plus decades have given me the opportunity to develop advanced skills in handling animals and interpreting body language.

I will provide pet sitting and dog walking services (whether you’re away from home for business or pleasure, or you are working from home and do not have the time to walk your dog). I will provide individual quotes to make sure that you and your pet(s) receive everything they need from my services, as well as a meet and greet before I get started to make sure that you’re completely comfortable with me taking care of your beloved pet(s).

Not only will I provide much-needed care for your critters, such as food, water, exercise, and any needed medications, but I will also give them the love and attention I would give my own pets! Having your critter(s) be able to stay home, in their comfort zone, allows them to be more relaxed in your absence.

I will provide private, in-home training lessons for you and your dog. Lessons will be tailored to your dog’s needs and topics will vary. I am dedicated to the highest standards in dog training. As such, I use only force-free, positive reinforcement dog training methods garnered from the most up-to-date scientific research in canine and animal behavior and learning, and recommended by the industry’s leading organizations and professional associations.

This approach to training supports my two goals for your training experience with me:

  1. Effective training results that are long-lasting, without the unwanted behavioral side effects often associated with punishment and force.
  2. That you and your dog actively enjoy the training process.

As a professional pet sitter, dog walker, and dog trainer I am a member of and fully insured and bonded with Pet Sitters International.

“We love Dana!!! She is so sweet and relaxed. My dog is typically
very anxious around new people, yet she regulated within minutes
of Dana being with us. Dana uses positive reinforcement in her
training and is a great teacher! The kids and I loved that she came
to our house and was able to work within our organized chaos! I
absolutely recommend Dana if you have any training concerns!!!
Daisy was very sad when she left today.”
